This one’s a bit of an all-rounder. First off, it’s in a good location just off a main road. In around five minutes you can be in the middle of Gumbet or setting up for a day on the beach. Secondly, it’s got a certain charm about it. It’s partly down to the size – there are 24 rooms in total – and partly down to the fact it’s run by a nice family. Looks-wise, Filis hits pretty lofty standards budget-wise. It’s a whitewashed number set in gardens shot through with banana trees and bougainvillea. And while the décor has seen better days, rooms are kept spotlessly clean.
