For a holiday base with a great resort location, the Castillo Beach is ideal. Built on a hillside overlooking Costa Caleta, you're on top of all the action without being swamped by it. The panoramic setting does mean steps, though. If you don't fancy the short walk there are taxis waiting to take you into the resort centre and to the beach for a small fee - expect to pay a few euros. Inside, the apartments are simple, but clean and equipped with basic self-catering facilities and every one has its own terrace or balcony. By day, it's all about swimming in the pool and there's plenty of room to find yourself a sunny spot on the terrace. You'll find snacks and drinks available at the pool bar. If you're feeling energetic, the beach can be reached a downhill walk away, or short ride in a taxi and there are activities on offer to keep the sporty-type occupied including a nearby golf course and watersports. The nearest shops and nightlife are close by and you'll find plenty of bars and good-value restaurant in the resort centre.
