This place is built into a cliff, which means you get panoramic views over the island of La Gomera and Los Gigantes. Playa de Arena is about a 15-minute stroll away, and you’re 5 minutes’ walk from a sandy beach.

The Barcelo has 3 huge pools and a good range of eating spots, too, as well as a snack bar which stays open late in summer. There’s also a handful of bars and restaurants just outside the hotel.

The spa* has 5 treatment rooms, where you can book in for anything from an express manicure to a couples’ massage. There’s also a gym with cardio machines and free weights.

Entertainment - There’s evening entertainment in the theatre bar*, where you can order a cocktail and watch one of the nightly flamenco or folklore shows. There are competitions and tribute bands, too.

There’s live music twice a week in the lobby bar. And if you want something more relaxed, there’s a lounge area with comfy seating and a big-screen TV. The pool bar’s* also a good spot for a quiet drink.

Pool - There are 2 big outdoor pools with spectacular sea views, and one indoor that’s heated. And there are daily activities, like volleyball, as well as plenty of space for poolside lounging. Kids get their own pool, too.

There’s direct access to Puerto Santiago’s sandy beach, only a few minutes’ walk away.

Rooms - There’s a relaxed tone in the rooms, with neutrals, pale wood furniture and accent colours. All of the twin rooms sleep up to 3 with a sea view. Or why not treat yourself to a superior room with bathrobes and slippers, a rain shower and 1 spa circuit per stay. For added space the junior suites sleep up to 4 with the same extras.
