The adult only Riu Arecas is in an upmarket part of Costa Adeje, just a five-minute drive from the centre. And it’s a five-minute cab ride in the other direction to La Caleta, a fishing village home to bars and restaurants.
This huge building is shaped like a cruise liner. On one side you’ve got the Adeje mountains and, on the other, views of the Atlantic Ocean. There's a trio of pools, two of which have a row of sunken sunloungers for you to relax on, and outside of the hotel, down by the seafront promenade, you'll find the relaxation area. It's exclusive to the Riu Arecas and comes with an infinity pool, loungers and a bar.
The buffet restaurant serves everything from fresh salmon to roast beef. There’s even a section devoted to cheese, featuring international varieties. Every week there’s a couple of themed buffets
The sleek and modern spa plays host to a hot tub and a steam bath. You can also pick from the massages, body wraps and facials on the treatment* list, or work out in the gym.
Evenings here are pretty laid-back. Several times a week the hotel puts on entertainment in the lounge bar. You could see anything from a fashion show to a circus act. And there's live music several times a week.
